Frequently Asked Questions

What checks and training do Furfolk dog walkers complete?

Before anyone joins the Furfolk team, they complete our tailored training and a full vetting process, including dog-handling assessments, screening, insurance checks, and a police check. We want every owner to feel completely confident entrusting their dog to us.

Once you book a walk, you can chat with your Furfolk team member before, during, and after the visit. Ask as many questions as you like – we’re here to help. We also take the time to understand your dog’s routine and preferences, so every walk is tailored to them, not just the timetable.

How many dogs do you walk at once?

At Furfolk, we focus on tailored, low-stress walks that match your dog’s normal routine. We only walk dogs from the same household during each service, along familiar local routes. This way, your dog isn’t overwhelmed by unfamiliar dogs, and we can give your pets our full attention.

Can I meet my dog walker before the first walk?

Yes. We strongly encourage a Free Meet & Greet  before your first booking.

Your walker will come to your home to:

  • Get to know you and your dog

  • Go through your routine (feeding, walking routes, keys, alarms, etc.)

  • Check equipment fits properly (collar, harness, lead)

  • Talk through any health issues, anxieties or house rules

It’s also your chance to ask questions and make sure you’re comfortable before we start regular walks.

What if my dog has special needs, anxiety or reactivity?

Many of the dogs we care for have quirks, anxieties or specific needs, and that’s completely okay. When you book, we’ll ask detailed questions about your dog’s history, triggers, routines and any vet or trainer instructions.

We only walk dogs from the same household and avoid crowded areas or off-lead dog parks for anxious or reactive dogs. Your walker will follow your handling preferences (e.g. no off-lead, crossing the street to avoid other dogs, specific harness or muzzle use) so your dog can feel as safe as possible.

We’re not behaviourists or vets, but we’re happy to work alongside them and stick closely to any management plan you already have in place.

What happens during bad weather?

Your dog’s safety and comfort come first.

  • In light rain or mild weather, we usually continue with walks, sticking to safe local routes and towel-drying your dog afterwards if needed.

  • In heavy rain, storms, high winds or very hot conditions, we’ll either switch to a short toilet break plus indoor play/enrichment, or reschedule the walk in consultation with you.

We keep an eye on local weather warnings and will always choose the safest option for your dog, rather than pushing on just to “get the walk done”.

Service Areas

We provide friendly, reliable dog walking and in-home pet sitting across Brisbane’s Northside, with regular visits in Warner, Bray Park, Strathpine, Albany Creek, Eatons Hill and surrounding suburbs.

Our local team also supports pets in Keperra, Ashgrove, Gaythorne, Arana Hills, Mitchelton, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills, Everton Hills, Upper Kedron, Samford Village and Enoggera.

If you’re looking for a dog walker or pet sitter in North Brisbane and don’t see your suburb listed, get in touch, chances are we already have a sitter nearby.
