Furfolk Pet Care | Our Story

Furfolk began with a simple idea: pets feel safest and happiest at home, surrounded by their people and routines. When our own work days stretched long, we struggled to find care that was personal, reliable and transparent. So we built the service we wanted for our own animals—professional in-home pet care that treats every animal like family.

Co-Founder

Marcus has spent years running operations and customer experience teams, so he’s a little obsessed with things working smoothly and on time. After too many late nights worrying about his own dogs while juggling a busy executive role, he decided Brisbane needed a pet care service that was as reliable and organised as it was loving, fromregular dog walking to overnight stays at home. At Furfolk, Marcus looks after the behind-the-scenes systems, quality checks and safety processes that make sure every visit happens when it should, exactly as promised – with plenty of photo updates along the way.

Co-Founder

Ashleigh brings a strong people and HR background to Furfolk, which shows up in the way she chooses and supports carers. She’s focused on finding kind, trustworthy humans first, then giving them the training and tools to look after pets the way she’d want for her own. From thoughtful meet & greet sessions to clear communication with families after each dog walk or overnight stay, Ashleigh’s priority is making sure both pets and owners feel genuinely cared for, not just “booked in”.

How do we pick carers?

We’re very selective about who we trust with your pets. Every Furfolk carer goes through a detailed application, experience check and interview process before they’re allowed to walk dogs or provide in-home pet sitting. We verify references, run police checks and look for people who are genuinely calm, confident and experienced around dogs and other pets.
Before caring for your pet, each carer completes our tailored training covering dog-handling, safety, house-sitting etiquette and emergency procedures, so you know your pets and home are in reliable hands.

What areas do we cover in Brisbane?

Furfolk provides dog walking and in-home pet care across Brisbane’s Northside. Our main service area includes suburbs such as Warner, Bray Park, Strathpine, Albany Creek, Eatons Hill, Ferny Hills, Arana Hills, Everton Hills, Samford Valley, Cashmere and nearby North Brisbane suburbs.
If you’re unsure whether your street is covered, or you’re just outside these zones, get in touch with your address. We’ll let you know what’s possible and whether we can add you to our expansion list.

How do you handle emergencies?

Your pet’s safety comes first. At your Meet & Greet we collect your vet details, emergency contacts and any medical information so we have a clear plan if something goes wrong.
If there’s an emergency during a dog walk or pet sitting visit, your carer will focus on keeping your pet safe, contact you (or your nominated emergency contact) as quickly as possible and follow your instructions. Where urgent veterinary care is required, we’ll arrange transport to your nominated vet or the closest suitable clinic and keep you updated throughout. For serious incidents involving people or property, carers are trained to call 000 and follow emergency services advice.
